Yeast infection is sometimes known as Candidiasis. Yeast can be found anywhere in our bodies, most especially in the areas of the armpits, mouth, abdomen, and nail beds, genitals or wherever there are skin folds that remain moist and are kept under tight clothing. Women usually incur yeast growth in the area of the vagina and under the breasts.
Yeast infections develop when the pH level and the temperature of the body are not in balance and it is caused by a fungus known as Candida Albicans. Those that are infected normally experience a mix of soreness, tingling, burning, and itching sensations. If you get afflicted with this, it is highly advised that you do not try to scratch the irritated areas because this will only increase the growth of the fungus. Symptoms of these include drowsiness, fatigue, pain or swelling in joints, muscle aches, fluid retention, dizziness, loss of balance, tissue swelling, and irritability, among others.
Almost anyone can have yeast infection and it does not center on gender alone. Let us try to take a look into some of the most common yeast infections and their particular symptoms.
For women, the most incurred is probably vaginal yeast infection. Afflicted women experience a burning and itching sensation along with vaginal discharge. In most cases, this can be triggered by use of steroidal products and certain antibiotics, but there are times when it can also be caused by sperm, diabetes, birth control pills, and pregnancy. Vaginal yeast infections are more prone to happen to women during their postmenstrual stages.
The first noticeable symptom is a cheesy discharge from the area that causes itchiness. Women usually experience pain during urination and when having sexual intercourse.
Diaper rash is one that everyone has probably heard of. Areas of the body where the skin folds and are subject to being moist and warm are breeding places for yeast infections to develop. You can visibly see these as bright red circle-like splotches on the skin.
A yeast infection you can find in the mouth is called thrush. People can acquire it by taking anti-inflammatory medicine, birth control pills, or antibiotics. Other likely victims of this infection are smokers and mothers who breastfeed.
You can usually see these as white creamy cuts anywhere within the mouth, having a slight sting when you touch them. Symptoms include difficulty in swallowing and sometimes fever.
These are just some of the few common yeast infections. Under normal circumstances, these are curable and can be remedied with drugs you can by over the counter.
